Today, Governor Brown appointed Effie Turnbull Sanders, of Los Angeles, to the California Coastal Commission (CCC). Effie has been an alternate member of the CCC for Commissioner Shallenberger since 2013.

Effie has an extensive public service resume. Since 2006, she has been assistant general counsel at the Los Angeles Unified School District. She was a deputy attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office from 2004 to 2006. During the Clinton Administration, Effie served as a Presidential and Congressional appointee with the United States Commission on Civil Rights, serving as Special Assistant to Vice Chair Cruz Reynoso.

Serving on the Board of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters Board of Directors provides Effie with a solid environmental background that will aid in her decision making at the CCC.

In short….on a 1-10 scale, Effie is “20″ Intelligence, character, judgment…….the whole package!
