Rocky Point Restaurant Enforcement Orders

The Commission’s enforcement department issued cease and desist orders and administrative penalties over unpermitted development and coastal access violations at Rocky Point Restaurant in Big Sur. This resolves serious violations that blocked access to public trail, impacted extremely rare native plants on properties overlooking the ocean in Big Sur. The resolution includes removal of unpermitted development, restoration, and new public access amenities including 24 public parking spaces, EV chargers, a public scenic viewing area with picnic tables and benches and new signs. It also includes a conservation easement that protects the majority of the property, for  a total estimated cost of $4 million instead of an administrative penalty.
