Why You Should Care
|
The majority of new residential homes and overnight accommodations along the California coast are quite expensive, while moderate- to low-income homes and accommodations are increasingly scarce. Although the Coastal Act contains a policy that encourages development of affordable housing options, implementing that policy is often challenging. The Commission and coastal stakeholders alike can do more to support affordable housing and accommodation options throughout the coastal zone. One promising step, a series of workshops regarding the Commission’s approach to supporting such accommodations, will begin in December 2014.
